Elisabeth Rappe: My dad was a rookie. And this very conservative Jewish neighborhood was being plagued by a gay porn theater
Elisabeth Rappe: Mostly because the boys were going to and from synagogue and finding guys hooked up in the bushes

Elisabeth Rappe: My dad was handsome and really baby-faced, so when the DPD decided to set up an undercover sting, they recruited him and his equally young and handsome partner
Elisabeth Rappe: They were like "You guys are PERFECT, they'll love you in there!"
Elisabeth Rappe: Now, both my dad and Tommy are typical cops...homophobic!
Elisabeth Rappe: They freaked, but they had to do it. So they go in, plain clothes. Tommy gets picked up right away.
Elisabeth Rappe: The goal was to get guys to proposition them, and then go outside so they could arrest them
Elisabeth Rappe: My dad declares "No man will touch ME" and sticks his maglight down his pants
Elisabeth Rappe: So he sits there, watching the movie...and this guy sidles up to him and says hi, enjoying the movie -- you're handsome, I like you
Elisabeth Rappe: Dad's like "Yeah, I like you too!!" and the guy slides his hand across dad's leg and hits his flashlight
Elisabeth Rappe: The guy thinks he hit the motherlode and goes "oh wow -- want to go outside?!" Dad says "I thought you'd never ask"
Elisabeth Rappe: Wham, busted! And the topper, the predictable ending was "Don't arrest me! I'm married, with 3 kids and I'm a pastor of my local church!"
davechensky: was that true?
Elisabeth Rappe: Yes!
Elisabeth Rappe: I think that's Dad's favorite part, besides the fact that Tommy got picked up before he did.
Elisabeth Rappe: I think my dad was a wannabe actor -- he was always waaay too good at undercover stuff
Elisabeth Rappe: That and he likes telling crazy people that he can see the aliens too.
